You will see Wilbur as you’ve never seen him before, as an animated super hero taking on bullies in the street, or as a romantic who counsels a couple on their approaching arranged marriage, Wilbur is always getting himself into unique situations through his curiosity and honesty.

WHO WE ARE
The film is to be directed by Toronto Filmmaker Jay Field and written and produced independently by both Wilbur and Jay. The Story was written by DJ Deli and Wilbur Sargunaraj.
Wilbur Sargunaraj initially took the internet by storm with his two videos “Love Marriage” and “How to use an Eastern Latrine”, earning him the auspicious title “India’s First YouTube star” by the Times of India. Since then Wilbur has produced over one hundred videos that have been viewed over 5 million times. In addition he has just released his sophomore album “Simple Superstar”, which has also been met with great fanfare. He has also taken his music and message on the road to perform in dozens of countries.
Wilbur has a love of diverse cultures, thriving on connecting and relating with people from all over the world. This affinity has given him a voice to challenge cultural taboos and prejudices in a humorous and supportive way.
Wilbur is now bringing his talents to the big screen. Teaming up with Filmmaker Jay Field, the feature film “Simple Superstar” tells a semi autobiographical story of Wilbur’s journey to internet fame.
Jay Field – Writer, Producer, Director
Jay has written, produced and directed a number of award winning short films, he has been nominated for a Genie, has attended dozens of film festivals including the Toronto International Film Festival, SXSW (South by South west), Palm Springs International Film Festival and Expresion en Corto in Mexico as well as a screening at Lincoln Centre in New York City. He has had his work broadcast on the CBC and Bravo, has been included in Art galleries as well as part of the Air Canada in Flight Entertainment and was included in a DVD sampler in Paste Magazine .
As a visual effects artist, Jay has worked on films such as Panic Room and Chicago and has done hundreds of commercials
